Sexuality: Doesn't strongly swing either way. As an Angel he values all forms of love, even if he himself is largely asexual except in special circumstances
Appearance: Mr. H has the look of a fairly hip coffee shop owner in his mid thirties. He has a rumpled easy going look about him, with his clothes somewhat messy, his black hair uncombed, and his face usually marked by a few days of stubble. Still, for all his lack of personal grooming, he has a charismatic presence that people can't help but like.

His favorite outfit is a white button up shirt under a black vest, with a high tech watch, black pants and black sandals. He usually has a coffee mug or a cell phone in his hand, and is rarely seen without his signature shades.

His Noise form is that of a hulking humanoid tiger, though he can also send out a second aspect that resembles a lithe humanoid panther that obeys his bidding and fights in a dimension that almost co-existent to the one he is in when necessary.

When in Angel form he gains two large white wings.

Personality: Mr. H's personality is very laid back and confident, rarely being serious and never seeming surprised. He has this sense about him that makes people want to trust and listen to him, and he can easily endear himself to strangers. He always has relevant advice to give, although his playfulness can lead to him giving someone a hard time if they take themselves too seriously. Above all, he likes to encourage others to expand their worlds and reach their full potential.

Underneath this though, Mr. H is a clever, some would say devious, thinker capable of staying several steps ahead of those around him. He is dedicated to his job, but even more dedicated to saving human life. Unfortunately when the situation is dire enough he is willing to make sacrifices to save as many lives as he can, teaching forbidden knowledge and risking his own fall from grace.


Abilities/Weaponry/Strengths: Back in Shibuya Mr. H possesses immense powers, on par with or possibly exceeding those of the Composer. To put that in perspective, the Composer could destroy Shibuya on a whim. He has the ability to create any number of strange devices, including the player pins and a phone that can take pictures of the past. He has the ability to induce an emotional response in people who witness his art, and can travel between universes by manipulating his "vibe." He possesses immense strength and durability, and can transform into a powerful Noise form called Panthera Cantus. Also, as an angel he has wings and can fly. He has lived for a very long time, and has access to all sorts of forbidden knowledge, such as how to create Taboo Noise.

Once in Paixao certain powers of his will be reduced. He will still possess his technological and artistic prowess, although securing materials will be tricky. Although he will still posses immense strength, it will not be at the godlike level he had in Shibuya. In this case, he can destroy small sections of the city, not the whole thing. He also will lose his ability to travel between dimensions. Furthermore, Mr. Hanekoma is restricted by the rules of the game, and therefore is not allowed to use his powers in front of anyone except the Producer, who isn't even here. Hanekoma also takes a policy of moving things behind the scenes, as even the possible destruction of Shibuya was not enough to drive him to direct action. He works via proxies or within the system, rather than fighting directly. He believes that great power should be used sparingly and wisely.

Weaknesses: One of Mr. H's biggest weaknesses is the constraints placed upon him by his job, which prevents him from using his powers openly and isolates him from others. Furthermore, he tends to favor indirect means of accomplishing his goals, which sometimes means losing the battle to win the war. This means he has to be several steps in front of his enemy, or he'll be at a disadvantage. He can also be occasionally ruthless in his measures if he feels the cause is important enough, which can have unforeseen consequences further down the road.

History: Little is known about Mr. H before the Shibuya game portrayed in The World Ends With You, not even how long he served as Shibuya's producer. It is implied that he has been at this duty a long time, and that he has traveled to other realities in the past. In this time, he was able to set himself up as the barista of the WildKat coffee shop, and became the wildly popular, if mysterious street artist CAT. Throughout his tenure as Producer, no one but the Composer was ever aware of his true identity.

His first encounter with Neku during the game occurred when he stopped the young man from being tricked into killing his partner Shiki, in the process educating both about the game and the importance of being partners. He was also instrumental in saving Beat from Erasure, housing the young man in his coffee shop.

He popped up again to give Joshua some special equipment, and appeared to be working behind the scenes to investigate the Taboo Noise and aid Joshua, even rescuing Joshua from an alternate universe when he fled there. However, as the third week wore on, evidence seemed to pile up that Mr. Hanekoma was in fact the Composer, and was behind the attacks by the Taboo Noise that had been assaulting Reaper and Player alike, as well as the strange pins that were stripping people of their free will across Shibuya. When it came time for the final confrontation with the composer, however, Mr. Hanekoma was nowhere to be found. It appeared he did not in fact have anything to do with the plots swirling around Shibuya, though his appearance beside Joshua during Neku's final moments before returning to the real world raised questions.

Only later is it revealed that he was playing all sides of the conflict in order to ensure Shibuya's survival. Mr. Hanekoma had been the one to teach one of the Reapers to produce Taboo Noise in the hopes of stopping the Composer from winning the game for Shibuya's fate. In the process of doing so he violated one of the most important laws of Angel society, and has become a Fallen Angel. The full consequences of his actions remain to be seen…
